Android has gone through many changes since its inception and the latest update – dubbed ‘Icecream Sandwich (or version 4.0) – has seen it become sleeker and more user friendly. The battle between Android and the Iphone is almost becoming history as more and more users make the switch to the more accessible and widely available google operating system.
So what is in the new updates that will have Android fans craving ice cream?
Updated Browser
If you are already using Android you will know that the browser is really out of date and difficult to use especially for browsing multiple windows and book making. The key here is usability, and while the old browser had most normal functions available they were very hard to access.
User and Application Settings
If you are used to controlling what programs are actually open then the older versions of Android leave a lot to be desired. Problems with slow running smart phones was common as applications were left running in the background, even after they were closed. The new settings allow much greater control over what is running and how much system resources are used.
Android Camera
Let’s face it, the Android camera app was rubbish and this is an area that an Iphone certainly was the better choice. But no more! The new camera app has a lot more functions than just a ‘take picture’ button. It also allows you to take great panoramic shots!

The new Icecream Sandwich update from Google has seen Android finally become a worthy smart phone operating system. While it was functional before it has now become sleeker and more user friendly. This is important as more and more non-tech savvy people start to take up smart phones. The new operating system looks set to further reduce Apple’s market share.
